Acne is not a problem only for the face but your entire body. The body has many glands that create oil called sebum. Sebum is necessary to keep the skin and hair soft. But often the body produces too much oil which clogs the pores and dead skin cells, dirt and bacteria can get trapped in the pores making pimples.
The most common areas of the body for acne to occur is the face, neck, chest, back, buttocks and thighs. Most people see acne in the face more than anywhere else, but your body can get acne in all of these places and even less common places like legs, arms, feet and hands.
Usually acne on the body can occur when clothing is too tight or anything bothers or irritates the skin. Certain areas of the body require different treatment. Skin in one area of your body may be more sensitive or tough than another area and treatment would be different.
First you must realize the type of skin that you have to properly treat it. If the skin is more sensitive you need to use gentler ingredients like aloe vera and tea tree oil. If your skin is tougher you may need to use ingredients that are tougher like oatmeal and lemon juice.
Before scrubbing your body take a steamy shower. The steam and hot air will help your pores open up making it easier to clean out the oil, dead skin cells, dirt and bacteria. Once your pores have opened up, scrub your body or the area affected with acne using a natural homemade body scrub in the shower.
To make a scrub that is good on all types of skin start with a few tablespoons of honey or tea tree oil. Use either 2 tablespoons of lemon juice with the pulp, blended raspberries or cucumbers and mix with the honey. If you would like to exfoliate your skin you can add oatmeal, cornmeal or bran, but a loofah will also help exfoliate your skin.
Taking care of your skin so that body acne will go away is simple to do. It is easiest to clean your body in the shower using a loofah to exfoliate your skin and to get to hard to reach areas. Use products that are specific to your skin type. Use cleansers that have salicylic acid or glycolic acid.
After thoroughly cleaning your skin you can add a toner or body cream. Use topical products that have benzoyl peroxide. But if you have sensitive or dry skin look for natural ingredients like aloe vera and tea tree oil to prevent further drying out your skin.
For a problem pimple you can use ointments. Ointments should not be used over the entire body but applied directly onto a pimple. Use ointments that have retinoids, sulfur or benzoyl peroxide.
Take care to moisturize your skin after showering and treating your body acne. Your skin can dry out quickly while treating acne and can further irritate your skin. Use moisturizers that are oil based, not water based.
