There are 5 types of skin type, and knowing which kind you have can help you to treat and prevent acne. Every kind of skin will react differently to different treatments, you want to make sure that you are getting the right kind of treatment for your skin so that you can properly and effectively get rid of acne and prevent it.
Oily skin produces more sebum oil than is needed. To determine if you have oily skin in the morning when you wake up before washing your face use some toilet paper and wipe your face, if there is oil on the toilet paper you have oily skin. Touching your face throughout the day you may feel the oil on your skin. The oiliest places are the cheeks, nose and forehead. You skin may appear shiny, have large pores and coarse.

Dry skin usually looks very good while young, but is prone to wrinkles and dry spots. If you wipe a cloth on your face there will be no traces of oil on it, and if you wipe your hand you won’t feel any oil either. Dry skin will flake and crack especially in the cold months where humidity is low. The skin may feel tight, itchy and irritated.

Combination skin is both dry and oily. There are spots on the skin that are more oily, such as the forehead, nose and chin, while other spots are more dry such as the cheeks, temples and around the eyes.

The oily places will need washing twice a day and a facial scrub once a week. The dry areas of skin will need washing once a day, moisturizer twice a day and you can do a moisturizing mask once a week.

Some skin types are both oily and sensitive, or oily and dry. Sensitive skin usually tends to be dry though, feels tight, itchy and can get irritated very easily. Reddish patches can form and they can appear scaly and itchy. This is the most fragile type of skin and requires constant care. All products used on sensitive skin should have gentle ingredients and natural ingredients such as aloe vera.
Caring Tips: You shouldn’t wash your face with facial cleanser or acne cream more than once a day and you should use a calming moisturizer once to twice a day.
