Treatment for Rosacea

Rosacea is a form of acne that is very different from every type of acne. The cause is unknown and there isn’t a cure, but knowing what triggers rosacea flare-ups and using proper treatment you can reduce symptoms to where the rosacea isn’t visible anymore. Rosacea affects people between 30 and 60 most. And women get rosacea more than men, but men’s symptoms are worse. People with fair skin are at a higher risk of having rosacea.

Rosacea is characterized by a red rash that appears on the forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. The rash is accompanied by small pimples and blemishes. Small blood vessels, called telangiectasia, on the face may become visible, and the eyes often are watery, burning and irritated, called ocular rosacea. The nose may get very red and bulbous, called rhinophyma. The areas of where the rash occurs may burn or sting, especially when using lotion or medicine. The face will also feel very dry, sensitive and you may have a feeling that your face is sunburned.

Most often people with rosacea are told to see a dermatologist and undergo laser treatment. But there are many options to treating your rosacea and making the symptoms less noticeable. Many creams and homemade remedies will reduce the appearance of rosacea.

Home Treatment for Rosacea

Rosacea flare-ups are often triggered from something. Finding what makes your skin flare up will help you to avoid those triggers. Common triggers are excessive sun exposure, stress, hot weather, strong wind, exercise, drinking alcohol, hot showers or baths, cold weather, eating spicy foods, skin care products that irritate the skin, hot beverages, medications and even fruits and dairy products.

Drinking apple cider vinegar daily helps to reduce the symptoms of rosacea. It helps to release digestive enzymes and helps to balance bacteria in the intestines. This helps to ensure that the bacteria won’t get absorbed into the bloodstream and get into your skin.

A green tea cream or green tea facial mask helps your skin to soothe, moisturizes your dry and itchy skin, and reduces flare ups and symptoms of rosacea. To make a green tea facial mask mix 1 tablespoon of green tea powder – or you can use green tea leaves - with 1 egg white and 1 teaspoon of honey. Mix together and apply onto your face. Leave on for 30 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

It is important to still clean your face regularly. But since your skin is extra sensitive use products and ingredients that are gentle and will soothe your skin, not irritate it. Use ingredients that have a gentle exfoliate not rough ones.

To make a green tea facial scrub that is gentler on your skin mix 1/3 cup of almonds that are ground into a powder and 1/3 cup of wheat bran. Then stir in 1 cup of hot freshly brewed green tea and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Gently massage the scrub into your skin and rinse off with warm water when completed.

Best Treatment for Rosacea

Use creams that have natural ingredients; avoid creams with harsh chemicals which can irritate or dry out your skin triggering rosacea. B vitamins are proven to reduce rosacea symptoms, and a good cream should have niacinamide which is a form of Vitamin B3. It will keep your skins moisture level higher and keep inflammation at bay.

If you don’t want to apply creams to your face take antibiotic pills that contain tetracyclines. They have anti-inflammatory properties and help reduce flare ups in rosacea.
